City Escapes creates amazing bridge in Leafy Garden
"A brilliant addition to our garden"
City Escapes recently constructed this amazing bridge in a peaceful and tranquil garden of East Sussex.
The requirement was to span a 15m wide "gorge" to access a beautiful woodland glade ideal for picnics as well as peace and quiet.
The costs for a bridge made by bridge building specialists required pockets deeper than the 20ft gorge itself! To cap it all it would not meet the prime requirement - rustic.
The bridge is shown nearing completion. Supported primarily by horizontal telegraph poles with "in the round" chestnut posts providing further support to minimise Millenium bridge bounce! To this frame further rustic chestnut poles are added both as hand rails and braces. To finish, split chestnut paling was fixed vertically to form the bannisters.
